A Christian Functional Medicine Practitioner for Women and Moms
If you don’t feel like yourself anymore, even though your labs keep coming back “normal”, I want you to know you’re not alone. I’ve been there too.
I’m Kate Vazquez, Physician Assistant by training and a functional medicine practitioner. Through Radiant by Design, I walk alongside women and moms who are tired of chasing answers and want to understand their health more deeply.
For me, functional medicine isn’t my faith, and it isn’t a replacement for conventional medicine. It’s a tool, a way of looking more deeply at the body God created and learning to steward it well, with Jesus at the center.
What Is Christian Functional Medicine?
Christian functional medicine is functional medicine practiced from a Christian worldview. It looks at the connections between things like hormones, gut health, stress, sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle while recognizing the body as something God created with intention and entrusted us to steward.
Functional medicine asks a different kind of question. Instead of looking only at an isolated symptom, we look at the bigger picture and ask, What might my body be trying to tell me?
Your body has a story. Symptoms can be clues worth listening to, not something to fear or something that defines you.
For me, the Christian part isn’t an add-on. It’s the foundation from which I practice.
I believe health is not something to worship, perfect, or chase. Caring for your body can simply be an act of stewardship: learning to listen, making wise choices, and taking care of what God has entrusted to you.
What Does a Christian Functional Medicine Practitioner Do?
A Christian functional medicine practitioner looks at your health as a whole person rather than reducing you to a diagnosis or a lab value.
With me, that starts by listening to your story, your symptoms, cycles, digestion, sleep, stress, lifestyle, and what you’ve already tried.
When testing could provide useful information or change the direction of your care, I may recommend labs and explain why. Lab testing is an additional cost and separate from my services.
From there, we create a personalized plan that may include nutrition, lifestyle, sleep, stress and nervous-system support, and supplements when appropriate. If you want prayer or Scripture to be part of our time together, there is room for that too.
My goal isn’t to give you another list of things to perfect.
It’s to help you understand your body, care for it well, and take the next faithful step.
Faith-Based or Christian: Is There a Difference?
“Faith-based” is a broad term that can mean many different things. My approach is specifically Christian.
I follow Jesus, and that shapes how I listen, how I care for you, and how I understand health and stewardship.
I don’t believe you have to separate your faith from the way you care for your body. At the same time, I don’t believe every symptom is spiritual, and I don’t use faith to explain away physiology.
God cares about every part of you, and that includes your physical body.
Practitioner, Doctor, Coach, or Naturopath?
These titles represent different types of training, education, and scopes of practice.
I’m a Physician Assistant by training and have additional training in functional medicine. Today, through Radiant by Design, I provide functional medicine education and lifestyle, nutrition, supplement, and faith-integrated guidance. I work alongside your existing medical care rather than replacing it.
I’m transparent about what I do and don’t provide. I don’t manage medications, or ask you to stop or change the care your doctor prescribed.
The goal is not to choose between conventional medicine and functional medicine. Sometimes the wisest approach is knowing how they can work alongside one another.
Who I Work With
I work primarily with women and moms who know something feels off, even when they’ve been told everything looks fine.
You might:
- Wake up exhausted, even after a full night of sleep
- Have cycles that feel unpredictable or PMS that knocks you down
- Be walking through postpartum or perimenopause changes and not feel like yourself
- Deal with bloating or a gut that seems to react to everything
- Feel wired but tired most days
- Hear “your labs are normal,” but still know you don’t feel like yourself
These experiences can have many contributing factors, and functional medicine can provide another lens through which to understand the bigger picture.

Working with me isn’t the right fit for urgent or emergency needs, medication management, or anyone looking to stop or change a medication without the physician managing it.
How Faith Shows Up in My Care
Faith is the foundation of how I practice, but it is never something I use to pressure you.
If you want prayer or Scripture to be part of our time together, it is welcome. If you don’t, I will respect that.
I won’t use fear to motivate you.
I believe there is a difference between stewardship and striving. Caring for your health doesn’t mean becoming obsessed with your health. It doesn’t mean chasing perfect labs, following every wellness trend, or believing you have failed when your body doesn’t respond exactly as you hoped.
It means taking the next faithful step with what you’ve been given.
When my own body experiences symptoms, one of the questions I have learned to ask is, “God, what are You inviting me to see here?”
Sometimes the answer has been rest. Sometimes it has been something I needed to say no to. Sometimes it has simply been an invitation to slow down and listen.
Not every symptom has a spiritual root. But God cares about every part of you.

Do I Have to Be a Christian to Work With You?
No. My faith shapes how I care for you, but women of any background are welcome.
If you want prayer or Scripture to be part of our work together, I am happy to include it. If you don’t, I won’t impose it on you.
My hope is simply that every woman I work with feels seen, respected, and cared for.

How to Choose a Christian Functional Medicine Practitioner
If you’re looking for a Christian functional medicine practitioner, don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Look for someone who:
- Is transparent about their education, training, and scope of practice
- Explains why they are recommending a particular lab or test
- Is clear about the cost of testing and services
- Works alongside your physician rather than telling you to avoid conventional care
- Never pressures you to stop a medication without the physician managing it
- Makes their pricing clear before you commit
- Offers faith rather than forcing it
- Doesn’t use fear, shame, or promises of guaranteed healing
- Is honest about when they can help and when you need another level of care
You deserve to understand who you are trusting with your health.
Here’s how I try to live that out.
Meet Kate Vazquez
I’m Kate Vazquez, a Christian functional medicine practitioner and founder of Radiant by Design, a 100% virtual functional medicine practice for women and moms.
I’m a PA-C by training, with a Master of Medical Science from Nova Southeastern University and additional training in functional medicine.
I started in conventional medicine. Over the years my own health journey, and my desire to understand the deeper connections within the body, led me to functional medicine.
For years, I experienced migraines, gut issues, acne, fatigue, anxiety, and hormone symptoms. Functional medicine gave me a different lens through which to understand my body. But ultimately, it was God who met me in that search and began teaching me that health was about more than finding the right test, supplement, or solution.
It was also about learning to listen, to surrender, to steward what He had given me, and to trust Him with what I couldn’t control.
I’m a wife and a mom, still learning, still growing, and still being refined into who God created me to be.

Individual experiences vary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Last reviewed: October 8, 2026 by Kate Vazquez
What is a Christian functional medicine practitioner?
A Christian functional medicine practitioner uses the functional medicine approach to look at the connections between factors such as hormones, gut health, stress, sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle while viewing health through a Christian understanding of the body as something God created and entrusted us to steward.
My approach through Radiant by Design is grounded in functional medicine, physiology, nutrition, lifestyle, and appropriate lab testing, with faith as the foundation of how I care for women.
Is functional medicine compatible with the Christian faith?
Yes. Functional medicine itself is an approach to health, not a religion or spiritual practice. It uses physiology, nutrition, lifestyle, and, when appropriate, laboratory testing to look more deeply at the factors that may be contributing to how someone feels.
As a Christian, I see functional medicine as a tool I can use while remaining grounded in a biblical view of the body, health, and stewardship. My faith is not something I add onto functional medicine; it is the foundation from which I practice. God is my source of wisdom. Jesus is my healer. Functional medicine isn’t about putting more faith in the body. It’s about learning to care for the body because of the One who created it.
You can read more in my guide, Is Functional Medicine Biblical?.
Do I have to be a Christian to work with Kate?
No. My faith shapes how I listen and care for you, but women of any background are welcome. Prayer and Scripture are offered, never forced.
Can I see a Christian functional medicine practitioner online?
Yes. Radiant by Design is 100% virtual, so you don’t need to travel to an office. I work with women across the U.S. and internationally through secure video visits. The Connection Call, the initial visit, and follow-ups are all by video.
Every client begins with a free Connection Call so we can talk through your story, goals, and whether working together is the right fit.
Is Kate Vazquez a functional medicine doctor?
No. I am a functional medicine practitioner, not a medical doctor (MD or DO).
I’m a PA-C by training. Through Radiant by Design, I offer lifestyle, nutrition, supplement, and faith-integrated guidance rather than practicing as a physician assistant.
What is the difference between faith-based functional medicine, Christian integrative medicine, and Christian holistic health?
These terms can overlap, and they don’t always mean the same thing from one practitioner to another.
Functional medicine looks at the connections between body systems and factors that may contribute to symptoms. Integrative medicine generally combines conventional medicine with other evidence-informed approaches. Holistic health is a broader term that can refer to many different approaches, including coaching and wellness practices.
The most important thing is to understand the practitioner’s training, scope of practice, philosophy, and how they work with your existing medical team.
Will I have to stop my medications or leave my doctor?
No.
I work alongside your primary care provider and other specialists. I don’t ask clients to stop or change medications prescribed by their physicians.
Functional medicine through Radiant by Design is intended to complement your care, not replace your doctor.
How do I get started?
Start by booking a free Connection Call with me.
We’ll talk through your health story and goals, I’ll explain how I work, and we’ll decide together whether it feels like the right fit.
Lab testing, when recommended, is an additional cost.
You can learn more about each step on the Work With Me page.
Ready to Talk?
You don’t have to figure this out alone.
Let’s talk, take a breath, and take it one step at a time.
Radiant by Design is not for emergencies or urgent medical needs. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Working with Kate does not replace care from your primary care provider.
